New Construction in Mountain Home, Idaho: The High-Desert Option

Mountain Home offers the most open-sky, unhurried new-home living in the valley's eastern edge: a base economy and big public land at the back door.

Mountain Home: buyer-focused guide to new-construction homes in the Treasure Valley

The valley's wide-open southeast

Mountain Home, the seat of Elmore County about 50 miles east of Boise on I-84, is where the Treasure Valley begins to feel like a big-sky movie set. Home to Mountain Home Air Force Base, home of the 366th Fighter Wing, the town is built for military families and anyone who wants a new home in a place where the in-town commute is minutes and the horizons are enormous.

An economy anchored by the base

The Air Force base is the town's engine: thousands of active-duty families plus a supporting community of retail, contractors, and services. That steady demand has kept new housing development predictable and healthy, which is good news for new-build buyers.

Commute and schools

Boise is about 50 miles, roughly a 45 to 60 minute drive door to door, and several Mountain Home households commute east for work. Mountain Home schools serve the town and the base, and new-construction buyers should confirm the feeder pattern for their phase as the neighborhoods expand.

The high desert is the amenity

Weekends here live outdoors: Bruneau Dunes State Park, home to North America's tallest free-standing sand dune and the state's biggest public telescope, S. Croix Reservoir for fishing and boats, the Birds of Prey country, and enormous blocks of public land in every direction. If the part of valley life you are tired of is the noise, Mountain Home is the other direction.

CBH new construction, with an agent

CBH's presence in Mountain Home gives new-home buyers a solid builder option close to the base and the suburbs. New inventory, lot selections, and release schedules change each week, and the agent's job is to track phases, review the purchase contract, and make sure the keys land in your hands at closing exactly as promised.
